We all thought this would be full of goals, given how poor both teams have been defensively in recent months, but instead got a goalless draw at the Etihad in front of a 52,221 strong crowd.
Real were without Ronaldo but did have Bale and Benzema. Not many real chances in the game till the end, but both teams will be feeling reasonably happy about the result. City, playing in their first ever CL semi, are still in the tie going into the second leg (and they didn’t concede an away goal), while Real always seem stronger at the Bernabeu and would back themselves to win in the return leg and book a spot at the finale in Milan.
