Player Ratings Bayern-Belgrade 3:0 | FCB open campaign with victory over Crvena Zvezda

Bayern put their 1:1 draw over the weekend against Leipzig behind them as they began their UCL campaign with a 3:0 win over Belgrade. With the other group game between Tottenham and Olympiacos ending in a 2:2 draw, Bayern are currently top of their group.

The Red Star Belgrade side that played this evening had some familiar names in their starting lineup- Marko Marin (their skipper), Jose Canas (ex Swansea), Rajiv van La Parra (ex Huddersfield, Brighton and Wolves).

Here are the player ratings from Bild- a good day at the office for Bayern’s midfielders and forwards.

Bayern’s goals in the game came through Coman, Lewandowski and Muller, the last of whom also became the club’s most capped UCL forward.

Bundesliga Team of the Week- Round 4 (2019/20 season)

Here is the Bundesliga Team of the Week for MD4 of the 2019/20 season. Leipzig stayed top of the table as they held Bayern Munich to a 1:1 draw, as a result of which the Bavarian giants slipped from 2nd to 4th. There is no Bayern player in either Sportschau’s Team of the Week or Kicker’s TOTW.

Elsewhere, Dortmund’s 4:0 win over Leverkusen saw them take Bayern’s spot in the table. Paderborn slipped into the drop zone as they were beaten 5:1 at home by Schalke.

All 9 games over the weekend produced goals. There were two red cards and both came in the same game- Union Berlin vs Werder Bremen, with Neven Subotic and Nuri Sahin getting sent off towards the end of that fixture.

“Why are we playing so badly?”- German paper not impressed with Low after win in Belfast

Germany may have moved to the top of their group after their 2:0 win over Northern Ireland in Belfast, but the nature of the win did not please the media, with the country’s top paper asking coach Joachim Low why die Mannschaft were playing so poorly. Their ratings also had more than half the team with a 4 or worse- which is “poor” in the German grading system.

The NI players were full of heart, and Germany just about managed to come through with a win- with one goal just after half time, and the other in second half stoppage time. Some would argue that a win is a win, but the nature of the triumph, coupled with the way they capitulated against the Netherlands in Hamburg, means that pressure remains on Low going into the European Championships.
