Gilberto linked with Gunners exit

Arsenal powerhouse Gilberto may quit the Gunners after admitting he’s aware of interest from Valencia and Juventus.

The Brazilian midfielder, overlooked for the captaincy and currently out of first-team favour, has always insisted he wants to finish his career at the Emirates. But amid rumours of a dressing-room bust-up with boss Arsene Wenger he said: “I’m not sure whether I will re-sign when my contract runs out in 18 months time.

“I know there has been interest from Valencia and Juventus. We will see but I still have an ambition to win the Champions League with Arsenal.”

He refused to comment on the rumours, which started when he was overlooked for the captaincy in favour of William Gallas, instead insisting the manager’s decision to sign an extended contract was a boost.

Gilberto said: “We made the most important signing of the summer – the gaffer.”
