Here are the player ratings for Bayern Munich’s narrow 2:1 win over SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga over the weekend. Thomas Muller, the scorer of the winner, was the pick of the Bayern players in both the Bild and Kicker newspapers. Freiburg’s only goal of the game came from an ex FCB player in the form of Nils Petersen. Robert Lewandowski was also on target for Bayern.

Kicker, as you can see, are not as generous with their ratings as Bild. Muller receives a 2 in the former, but a 1 in the latter.

The shock of the German Cup midweek fixtures came in the form of Holstein Kiel’s stunning win over Bayern Munich. Kiel triumphed on penalties after a 2:2 draw in regulation time. Here are some player ratings for the game from Kicker- Bayern’s defenders had a forgettable outing.

The draw for the first knockout round of both the Champions League and Europa League have been conducted and here is a look at whom the German teams left in the competition have drawn. Interestingly, all four Bundesliga teams competing in the group stages qualified from their respective groups while Hoffenheim and Leverkusen also made it out of their Europa League groups. That’s six German sides still in the competition- the exception being Wolfsburg, who were eliminated in the EL playoffs.
