The playoff round draw for the 2025/26 Conference League has been conducted and Bundesliga side FSV Mainz have been drawn against the winner of the Nordic clash between Rosenborg and Hammarby IF.
Mainz’s UECL Playoff Round games will be played on August 21, 2025 (first leg, away) and August 28 (second leg, home). The first leg will be an away clash to either Norway (if Rosenborg win) or Sweden (if Hammarby win)
Mainz also have a DFB Pokal clash against Dynamo Dresden on August 18, just three days before the first leg of the playoff round game. The club appealed for the tie to be postponed, but it was rejected by the DFB.
Mainz qualified for the UECL playoff round by finishing 6th in the 2024/25 Bundesliga.
Both Rosenborg and Hammarby entered the 2025/26 Conference League competition in the second qualifying round. Rosenborg beat Lithuanian side Banga 7-0 on aggregate while HIF edged Belgian outfit Charleroi 2-1 in extra time. The Rosenborg v Hammarby clash is a third qualifying round match, with the winner progressing to the playoff round to take on Mainz, as mentioned above.
