Bayern Boca 2:1 | FC Bayern become first team to beat South American opposition at Club World Cup 2025

Reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich became the first club to beat a South American team at this year’s 2025 Club World Cup after edging Boca Juniors 2:1 in humid conditions in Miami (official attendance of 63.587 at the Hard Rock Gardens)

Bayern thus managed to do what the likes of PSG and Chelsea haven’t been able to in this competition so far- South American teams were unbeaten in 9 games in this Club World Cup before Bayern broke that streak in the 10th game by beating Boca. Champions League winners PSG lost to Botafogo while Chelsea were beaten 3-1 by Flamengo earlier in the competition.

Bayern have six points from 2 games, while Benfica have 4 and Boca 1.

Bayern have to play Benfica in the final round of fixtures, while Boca will take on already eliminated Auckland City. SLB’s superior goal difference makes them favourites to progress along with Bayern.
