Jonny Evans- Wolves interested in Man Utd defender

Wolverhampton Wanderers are turning their attention towards Manchester United defender Jonny Evans after seeing their bids for Roger Johnson and Matt Mills rejected. Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has identified Evans as a possible target to bolster his defence and the Northern Ireland international could be open to a move after the arrival of Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers pushed him further down the pecking order at United.

United’s first choice defenders are Ferdinand and Vidic and Jones is expected to be second choice along with youngster Chris Smalling, meaning that chances for Evans could be severely restricted this season.

If Evans wants to remain with United, McCarthy may consider a loan bid to convince the NI defender to move to Molineux.
