Tottenham Will Face A FIGHT To Hold Onto Poyet
Posted on 05. Sep, 2008 by Milox in Premiership
Spurs may face a battle to hold onto assistant manager Gus Poyet, who has been made the early favourite to succeed Kevin Keegan at Newcastle.
The Uruguayan is viewed as a very valuable member of Juande Ramos’ staff at White Hart Lane, although the 40-year-old could be tempted to step up to take charge in his own right at St James’ Park.
Poyet’s connection with Newcastle executive director Dennis Wise has certainly seem him named as the early front-runner for the vacant post.
The pair were initially the management team at Swindon Town and more recently at Leeds United, although then Wise was in charge. However it is thought he would be more than happy to remain in his current post and let his close friend and former Chelsea team-mate take charge of team affairs.

Newcastle fans don’t want Poyet as Manager, nothing personal with him, but because of his past association with Wise.

This article id soooo out of date, Gus has already made a statement to the fact that he is happy at Tottenham and why would he want to go to a soon to be championship side like Newcastle.

Don’t know what battle you’re expecting us to fight, but Poyet is happy in his role at Spurs. He’ll have his turn to manage when Ramos hands him the reins in a few years’ time.
