Tottenham DROPS Case Against United & Berbatov

Posted on 02. Sep, 2008 by Milox in Premiership

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is not preparing a complaint against Manchester United, after Dimitar Berbatov completed his long awaited move to Old Trafford last night.

Levy had previously said he had reported the Red Devils to the Premier League for their supposed “tapping up” of the player and was clearly angry with the way Sir Alex Ferguson had gone about trying to sign Berbatov.

“It is probably one of the worst offenses by any manager in the Premier League to date” Levy was quoted as saying at the time.

“The public comments by Manchester United’s manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players,”

“As a result, we have made an official complaint to the Premier League about the conduct of Manchester United.”

And after United spoke to Berbatov yesterday - despite not being given permission to do so by Tottenham - it seemed almost certain that Levy would be continuing with his complaints against them.

However, Levy seems to have had a change of mind, with many people believing it had something to do with Fraizer Campbell joining Spurs on a season long loan from the English champions as part of the deal, as well as United meeting the Lillywhites original valuation of the player.

Did your Dad buy you this blog when you turned 12?
It would, I think, be blindingly obvious to adults that by this late stage Levy had no alternative but to take the money and run; this should not be seen as a withdrawal of clearly genuine feelings of annoyance at Man U’s arrogance, or of condoning their behaviour. Spurs were shafted as the weak always are by the strong in a society built on money not justice; it is merely ironic that Man U were forced to up their bid at the last minute because a new shark came nosing round the side of the reef. And yes, I know, that there are smaller fish in the sea and that Levy eats them too. The whole thing smells very badly.

Why does Spurs have to report MU?? Surely the FA or Premier League should see a club has broken the rules and take action themselves!!

I don’t want to see the chairman waste his time on this or find the two clubs at war with each other. …………

Its simple; the FA have a duty to uphold the laws of the game and investigate where they may have been broken. Its not Tottenham’s job to prosecute Man U, but the FA have all the evidence they need to start an investigation, if they have the cojones to go after Man U and Liverpool.

With the Barry saga, Keane & Berbatov, Tevez, Mascherano, Kewell and Benyoun there is quite a case to answer for these two clubs.

Will the FA do the right thing or are they as spineless as we believe them to be?

Is it just me or is anyone else getting fed up with Berbatwat’s non stop talking and smiling. I preferred him when he just said nothing and sulked.

As a City fan I am over the moon that at last we can compete on the world stage and I think that us going in for Berbatwat at the last minute pushed the price up for you guys and that helps a litle I guess. As far as the matter of an illegal approach by the manure it is blatantly obvious that the loan of young Campbell was a keep your mouth shut to Levy

and it stinks !!! The FA must investigate because for so long Ferguson has muscled and cheated his way to trophies and the way he squealed when Real tied to tap Christine up shows how when the boot is on the other foot they dont like it one bit. But I think that as usual the matter will be sept under the carpet. I realize that we are the new rich kids on the block and to all it seems like a dream ticket but lets hope our rich uncle backs our current manager and doesnt want to replace him with a super manager…. Enjoy Corluka hes a great guy and I was sorry to see him go !!
