Terry WINS Appeal To Play Against United

Chelsea captain John Terry is free to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday after winning an appeal against the red card he picked up at the weekend.

Terry was sent off at Manchester City on Saturday after bringing down City striker Jo.

Referee Mark Halsey deemed it a professional foul but yesterday Chelsea claimed wrongful dismissal.

Today the FA upheld the claim on the grounds Jo still had a long way to go to goal when the foul came in, meaning Terry no longer has to serve a three-match ban.

The news came as a further blow to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who earlier learnt that key midfielder Michael Carrick will be absent from the match - and for around six weeks - with a broken foot.
