Spurs Consider Move For Sporting Midfielder

Posted on 30. Aug, 2008 by Milox in Premiership

Tottenham are on the trail of highly-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso, according to reports.

The north Londoners have been criticised for lacking a steely edge in midfield after slumping to back-to-back Premier League defeats.

Now reports have emerged that the club is considering a move for tough-tackling Veloso before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Boss Juande Ramos, who already has Jamie O’Hara, Tom Huddlestone and Didier Zakora in that position, believes Veloso can help get the best out of the clubs creative talents.

The 22-year-old - a part of Portugal’s squad in Euro 2008 who has previously been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal - would cost in the region of £15 to £20 million.

Firstly it’s ZOKORA…. and secondly, I’ll welcome the move for Veloso, if it is at all a real link and not some more media bullcrap…

Well I would welcome the move as Veloso sould easily be our Roy Keane type player in a year or two. He would definately help our midfield options and would be exactly the sort of signing that we need.

I have just seen Zenit beat Manure 2-1, Arshavin was on the field second half, but was useless, I think he has an attitude problem.

get a move on then, no time for a medical now! like to know how we fit
jenas
hudlestone
bently
zacora
dos santos
o’hara
the young lad from crystal palace
lennon
modric
veloso

all in the side! thats 10 midfielders. not one of them has a left foot or can even play remotly well on the left either. zacora i close my eyes when he attempts to tackle, o’hara isnt exactly a brick wall either. id like to see zokora or jenas sold or both and bring in an out and out left sided player with veloso holding, bently on the right and modric in the middle. the hud should be next in line for some games with his passing vision and can be a big part. o’hara can maybe be a good utility reserve and lennon a super sub to spark things up a little sometimes. id like to see something of the kid from palace also. dos santos needs a free role to be effective but cannot do a job! i dont like the idea of sacrificing a striker to fit another midfielder in! glad im not the manager, but please get this ballanced ramos…please!!
