It's been known that Arsene Wenger prefers to develop a 17 year-old rather than buy an already established 25-27 year-old. Sometimes it is understandable with the soaring prices, especially for players who aren't established international regulars like Micheal Carrick (18.6m), but there comes a time when one must open up their cheque-book and splash. Simply put Wenger has been tight-belted and made profits nearly every summer, so why must Arsene continue to budget and admit to becoming a "selling club", therefore only prising young talent in the 17-23 year-old region.

Admittedly the majority of the time this risky ploy works, like with Henry, Fabregas, Flamini, Clichy etc... but there are times when it can backfire horrendously, like with Reyes, Jeffers, Aliadiere. With any ppurchase comes a risk, as people can't predict how a player will aclimatise to the premier league... like most people would've agreed that Fernando Torres should have floppped last season due to the huge difference between the la liga and the premiership.  As it goes he was one of, if not, the best striker in the 2007/08 campaign. But that quality and goal instinct came at a £24million price, a figure that Wenger's afraid to look at let alone shell out.

After the Barnet game there have been many articles publishing the quotes of Mr Wenger implying something like he'll buy one more player if the market fits the bill. This interview has lead the mass media to scour the planet wondering whose Wenger's next buy, linking Arsenal to all sorts. Barry, Yaya Toure, Veloso, Johnson, Giovinco and even another youngster, Crystal palace starlet Victor Moses, (The Sun).

So the endless speculation continues, but people should know that based on Wenger's previous efforts it's likely that he'll buy another youngster or up-and-coming player that nobody has heard of. So don't be mislead by the numerous amount of players linked to Arsenal because seemingly everyone wants to go to Arsenal, but few will arrive as the gunners kids, (The Hoyte brothers, Lansbury, Barazite, Simpson, Merida, Wilshere, Nordtveit and newly purchased Coquelin), strive to succeed at the Emirates.
