It seems Big Sam is in some bother at Newcastle.

Reports yesterday suggested that Allardyce has three games to save his job, and if he is shown the door then Mike Ashley apparently has his replacement lined-up.

And according to The Sun, that replacement is one Martin Jol.

The Sun reports: 'Jol was offered the Toon job before Big Sam was appointed in May but the Dutchman stayed at Spurs.

'Now he is waiting for another call from St James' Park and believes he can live up to their expectations.

'Jol, 51, is keen to return to work two months after being sacked by Spurs with a £4million pay-off.'

Here are two 'whispers' from the tabs about Chelski that you have heard before, and like us you're probably sick of.

AC Milan want Andriy Shevchenko back (The Sun), and Chelski are going to pay £10million for Nicolas Anelka (The Daily Star).

The Daily Mirror reckons that both Man City and Newcastle are in for Pascal Chimbonda, and are prepared to stump up around £10million for the Tottenham right-back.

Hhhhmmmmmm.

Well, frankly, this isn't going to happen. Quite why Sven will pay £10million when he has more pressing needs elsewhere on the pitch is beyond us.

But quite why Chimbonda would possibly even consider entertaining swapping an ever-improving Spurs side for Newcastle is even further beyond us.
