Blackburn chairman John Williams has revealed the club could be prepared to sell David Bentley - should they receive the right offer.

Bentley has stated his desire to leave Ewood Park in search of European football and both Tottenham and Aston Villa have shown a keen interest in the 23-year-old.

But with Villa boss Martin O' Neil seemingly cooling his interest in the winger, it looks like Tottenham are now the front runners for his signature.

Williams - who refuted claims that the club had put a £17 million price tag on Bentley - had previously insisted that the England man would not be leaving, with the club already rejecting two bids.

But the Rovers chief has seemingly changed his tune claiming that, should the right offer come in, the decision would then be up to manager Paul Ince.

"Contrary to speculation in the media, we have not put a price on David's head because we don't work like that," Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"The situation is we have had two bids for David, both of which have been rejected.

"However, if we got a bid that was in line with current market values, then we will refer it to Paul Ince and it becomes a football decision after that.

"As I've said all along, we are under no financial pressure to sell, because David is only one year into a four-year contract."
