Tottenham target Diego Forlan has revealed that he has received offers to join a Premier League club this summer, but insists he is happy to remain at Atletico Madrid.
Forlan was thought to have been identified by Juande Ramos as an ideal replacement for Robbie Keane, who completed a £20million move to Liverpool last month.
And the Spanish coach may well have had an offer rejected by the Spanish outfit, after former Manchester United striker Forlan admitted he had been given the chance to return to England.
"For sure I received offers from the Premier League to return this season, but neither am I interested in the adventure, nor are Atletico Madrid thinking of selling me," Forlan told setantasports.com.
"I’m grateful to the clubs for those offers but today I’m focused on Atletico Madrid and on doing something good in the Champions League."
After enduring a largely unsuccessful two-year stint at Old Trafford back in 2002, the Urugayan has put all that behind him and has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Spain.
"I wasn’t so lucky during my spell at Manchester United because I didn’t have many opportunities (to prove myself) but in Spain, with Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, I’ve been able to show I’m good enough to play in a big European league."
Although he concedes that he will be remaining in Madrid for the time being, the 29-year-old did not rule out a return to these shores in years to come.
"Returning to England at some point? You never know your fate in the football planet. Who knows, within two years…But right now I’m very happy in Spain."
