Spurs legend Chris Waddle believes Tottenham will be a labelled a 'feeder club' if they allow Dimitar Berbatov to join Manchester United.

The former England winger has criticised the Bulgarian's behaviour as the striker seeks to move on just two years into a four-year contract.

“It’s a shame. We knew about his ability when he arrived but Tottenham still took a gamble on him because he was temperamental,” Waddle stated in the Sun.

“Since then he’s done well but you wonder why players sign four or five-year contracts.

“It seems their intention is to move on after one or two years. It’s getting silly.

“It could happen again at Spurs in a year. They could finish tenth next season but Luka Modric could be outstanding — then what happens? You become a feeder club.”
