Spurs manager Juande Ramos has confirmed that he will continue to splash the cash before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.

The Spaniard has already spent £40million this summer, but having also recouped big fees for the likes of Robbie Keane and Paul Robinson, is still keen to add to his squad.

And Ramos confirmed his main priorities remain in both defence and attack, after moves for Zenit St Petersburg's Andrei Arshavin and Manchester City's Vedran Corluka fell through.

"We've got a list of targets that we are working very hard on," Ramos told Setanta Sport.

"Negotiations are tough and sometimes they are even tougher than usual. We know what we are working towards and we know what our objectives are.

"The process of signing players sometimes takes time, but fans should be aware we are trying to strengthen up front and sign a new forward. Quite often, these things take time.

"It's true to say we have one or two areas that we need to look at defensively and maybe solve a few problems at the back."
