Tottenham boss Juande Ramos has publicly admitted that he wants an end to the Dimitar Berbatov transfer saga.
The Bulgarian striker has been heavily linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.
But he has seen his dream move to Manchester United blow hot and cold all summer.
Currently, the Premier League champions are believed to be trying to broker a take-it-or-leave-it £25million deal with the north Londoners - and thus end one of the longest running transfer stories of the summer.
Ramos himself wants the issue sorted before the transfer deadline closes on Septemer 1 so that he has time to bring in a suitable replacement should the striker move on.
"We need to get this matter resolved before the transfer deadline," said Ramos.
"If Berbatov goes, we will need time to sign a replacement. We want to have the best centre forward we can possibly get."
Berbatov was left out of the Spurs squad for Saturday's defeat at home to Sunderland - with assistant boss Gus Poyet admitting the 27-year-old was "not in the right frame of mind" - which has fuelled speculation that his transfer to United is finally set to be completed this week.

Spurs have repeatedly said no to any talk about Berbatov leaving.
It hasn’t stopped newspapers and sites like this doing the bidding of Alex Ferguson and illegally tapping Berbatov up.
