President of fifa Sepp Blatter claims that modern slavery has overtaken football.
During an interview with sky sports news the fifa president said, "If (talking about Ronaldo) he wants to leave let him leave, but not at any price".
Surely the fifa president should be enticing players to honour their contracts, as this is seen as healthy in modern football. But Mr Blatter went on to say, "There is too much modern slavery in transferring players, and buying players".
"We are trying to intervene in some cases to make it more transparent".
"I have sympathy with Ronaldo".
Would you agree with these statements? I would... Mr Blatter makes a valid point in saying Man United playmaker, Cristiano Ronaldo, who earns more than £100,000 a week is treated as a slave. I mean he's been put through a gruelling intense season whereby he's played in the Champions league final and Eurpoean Championship, and what has he had for a reward. The character of a good well-respected manager, the support of manchester fans, the backing of a well structed team pursuing another successful campaign come 2008/09. What more does he really need? Doesn't he sound a bit greedy? What can Madrid offer that Man United can't give? Since he has already won everything he can with Man United is he seeking a new challenge?
Going back to Mr Blatter's comments, it seems as if signing a long-term contract is meaningless. Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a four-year contract but it will count for nothing if he were to file for a transfer request. Seeing out the remainder of a contract seems to be an issue that the fifa president must tackle. But with comments supporting players unloyalty it's hard to see where Sepp Blatter, as fifa president, stands in terms of football's development.
One last thing. If Cristiano Ronaldo does move then football clubs will be heavily reliant on money instead of good football. Increasing costs and inflation will spiral out of control, which will increase the gap between the haves and have nots (Premiership and Championship) and require every team to yern for foreign ownership. If Ronaldo goes it will support Real Madrid's power and allow them to continue to bully other clubs into selling. If Ronaldo goes it will depict the ending of an era, where club loyalty was imminent and essential, especially if the club reeked success, (examples are Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs).
First of all, Blatter should just shut up! Think before speak just doesnt apply to this ol’ fart.
Ronaldo has signed a piece of paper called contract, which states he has to serve another few years at Man U.
If FIFA President is saying he doesnt have to stay true to his contract, wht will happen in the future?? Why pay so much money for a player in the first place? Man U has all the right to not sell C. Ronaldo, because he has a contract with them!
And by the way Bladder, I dont mind being a slave for 100,000 pounds a week! What a word to use! Slavery is just an impossible situation fr Christiano Ronaldo.
