Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov looks set to complete his long-protracted move to Manchester United within days, and could be replaced by another familiar face.
Sevilla striker Frederic Kanoute, who left Spurs to sign for Juande Ramos in Spain, could be in line for a sensational return to play for his old club and manager according to media reports.
The Daily Mail claim that the Mali international, who originally left London after a row about his international commitments, is wanted by Ramos to replace the Bulgarian and reprise the pair's successful Spanish partnership.
It is reported that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and his Manchester united counterpart have finally agreed on a fee for the talented forward and that a price of £28million will secure his services.
Tottenham are yet to replace Robbie Keane, who left for Liverpool, and the departure of Berbatov would leave without either of last season's first-choice strike force, but with a near £50million war-chest with which to recruit replacements.
Darren Bent, who cost £16.5million from Charlton last summer, is finally starting to repay some of the money invested in him with 12 goals so far in pre-season and has caught th eye of England manager Fabio Capello.
Rumours from Russia indicate that Andrei Arshavin could replace Keane for a similarr fee but Spurs would be keen to add another striker to create competition for places, Kanoute scored 14 goals in 60 games in his first spell at Spurs but formed prolific partnerships with Jermain Defoe and then Robbie Keane.
He has enjoyed even greater success in Spain where has averaged more than a goal every two games having netted 70 times in 136 appearances.
