Cristiano Ronaldo's mother Dolores Aveiro says her son will be staying at Manchester United next season.
Ronaldo, who has long been a transfer target of the Primera Liga champions, was quoted as telling Brazilian website Terra on Thursday that he would like to move to Madrid if they were willing to pay what Manchester United ask.
But now, his mother claims he is happy in England and has no intention of joining Real.
"He is fine where he is. The future only God knows, but what is sure is that he is going to continue in England," Averio was quoted as telling Portuguese television station TVI.
Earlier, Madrid president Ramon Calderon said it was an "honour" that Ronaldo wanted to join his club.
"For Madrid it is an honour to know that a player like him thinks that playing at Real Madrid would be good," Calderon said in Spanish newspaper AS.
"We are proud to know that he would like to be with us."
Ronaldo's apparent 'come-and-get-me' plea to Madrid has left Rio Ferdinand fearing for United's future.
"This team can get better but we need it to stay together." Ferdinand told The Sun.
"We have worked hard to get to the position we are in and want to build on the success we have had.
"That means keeping all the players at the club."
It could also spark a major row between United and Madrid, with the English club stating last month they may report the Primera Liga side to FIFA for making their pursuit of Ronaldo public.
Ronaldo, however, has vowed not to discuss the issue further while in Austria and Switzerland.
"From today, I'm not going to talk about this topic with anyone at all," he said on Thursday.
"I'll only talk about this again after the European Championships. Don't ask me any questions, because I won't answer."
One player who is keen to be reunited with Ronaldo is Madrid's former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who told Spanish daily paper Marca: "He'd be an important signing for Madrid, because this is a club which signs the best players in the world - and that's what Cristiano is.
"Cristiano could bring a lot of things to this club. He's young; he has everything and a long sporting career ahead of him.
"For Madrid, he would be a great signing."

Didn’t Gerrard have his head turned when he was away with England leadign him to decide about goign to Cheslea. Lets hope that party boys like Deco get in Ronaldo’s ear when he is with the Portugal squad and persuade him to leave for sunny Spain.
Don’t really care what his mum says. It’s more about what the lad says himself.
Regardless of what happens this whole saga is hilarious.
