Spurs striker Darren Bent believes that he can still forge a successful partnership with Roman Pavlyuchenko.
The pair have struggled to find an understanding on the pitch so far, which has contributed to the team's disastrous start to the season, which sees them lying bottom of the Premier League.
Tottenham assistant manager Gus Poyet recently suggested Bent and Pavlyuchenko – a £14million signing from Spartak Moscow – were too different to play together. But Bent insists it is nothing some hard yards on the training ground can't put right.
“Poyet didn’t mean that, he meant if me and Pavlyuchenko work at training it will come good,” Bent told Setanta Sports.
“To be honest I would say it’s just a matter of time, it’s about getting to know each other. I won’t say we can’t play together, I would say once we start working together it will be fine.
“Anyway I think Spurs are going to bounce back soon, I have no doubt about it. We should just get one positive result to be back on the right track because we have a pretty good team.”
Bent also staked a claim for another summer signing, Giovani Dos Santos, to play more regularly and the striker has tipped the 19-year-old Mexican to help dig Spurs out of their slump.
He added: “It’s hard to get into the Spurs squad and hopefully Giovani will have his opportunity to play more, which would be a good thing.”
