Rangers right-back Alan Hutton, a leading figure in Scotland's revival on the international stage, is at the centre of transfer rumours.
Hutton, 23, is reportedly seen by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson as a potential long-term replacement for club captain Gary Neville.
Newcastle and Lazio have also showed tentative interest in the attacking defender but Gers assistant boss Ally McCoist voiced confidence that Hutton can be persuaded to stay in Glasgow.
"I have no doubt Alan is destined for great things in his career, but I believe those great things can be with Rangers," McCoist said.
"He is still young and has a bit to learn and, with a bit of luck, he can learn at our place over the next few years."
