Manchester City executive chairman Garry Cook has reveled how he was disappointed the club were beaten to Mikael Silvestre's signature by Arsenal.
City, along with Bordeaux and Italian giants Roma had been the only known clubs to be interested in the frenchman, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger swooped to sign the defender last night for an undisclosed fee and Cook was clearly disappointed the club had missed out on the 31-year-old's signing.
"He's another one we've missed out on," said Cook. "If you're 31 and fancy a bit of Champions League, it's difficult for us to compete with that."
Silvestre has seen his first team chances limited at Old Trafford in recent years, but has still managed 249 appearances for the Red Devils since moving from Inter Milan in 1999.
