Arsenal are set to go head-to-head with Manchester United in an effort to land £16million-rated Sporting Lisbon star Miguel Veloso, according to reports.
Both clubs have been heavily linked with the midfielder in the past.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the talented Portugal ace and is believed to have considered making last-ditch bid for the player on transfer deadline day.
Although a move did not materialise, Veloso's representative Paulo Barbosa has revealed that the north Londoners - as well as Premier League giants United - have been scouting the 22-year-old with a view to tabling an offer in January.
"Arsenal are looking at Veloso for the future and it's possible a deal can be sone for January," said Barbosa.
"We will also know then what will happen with Manchester United.
"Arsenal and United are both always watching Veloso and making observations. He would cost either club at least 20million euros."
