Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes striker Emmanuel Adebayor will have to work hard to win back the support of Arsenal fans.

The Togo striker hit the only goal of the game in the 1-0 Emirates Cup win over Real Madrid yesterday, although some sections of the home crowd refused to sing his name.

Following a summer of speculation surrounding his future at the club, the Togo hitman agreed a double-your-money £4million-a-year deal at The Emirates last week.

“The best thing is to give your answer on the pitch” stated Wenger in the Sun.

“You play well, you show you’re ready to fight for your shirt and be efficient. He’s a man with character. If you score people forget their frustration.

“Yes, I like to see a player kiss the badge why not? If it’s sincere and real, yes.”
