Mathieu Flamini has taken a swipe at former club Arsenal by insisting they did not want to keep him.
Flamini completed his move to AC Milan at the end of last season after turning down the Gunners' offer of a new contract worth £55,000 a week. Instead he plumped for the extra £5,000 on offer from the Italian giants.
But the combative midfielder claims it was Arsenal's lack of effort to try and keep him at the Emirates that proved to be the final nail in the coffin - and as soon as Milan came in for him, there was never going to be another destination.
"I had no doubts about coming here - it was an easy decision. Arsenal didn't leave me with the option of staying in London," the Frenchman told Gazzett dello Sport.
"Milan contacted me and immediately made me feel important. I never even considered other clubs.
"I play for a club that is among the most successful in the world and it is an honour. I want to write my name in the club's history."
