Sir Alex Ferguson reckons Manchester United will win the title at Chelsea.

Avram Grant’s Blues are currently five points behind leaders United with the sides meeting on April 26.

Boss Fergie insisted: “I have said all along that Chelsea hold the key because they had to play Arsenal at home and we still have to go to Stamford Bridge.

“They have a formidable home record so we know how tough it is going to be down there.

“It will be a big factor in determining who wins the title.

“We have a nice cushion but there are some very difficult games to come — so no one can say we are certain to win the title.

“The team that shows real consistency over these closing games will be champions and, hopefully, we will do that.”

Chelsea ousted Arsenal as United’s main challengers after beating the Gunners 2-1 on Sunday.
Arsenal have slipped up

And United are now confident of defeating Arsene Wenger’s troops at home on April 13.

Midfielder Michael Carrick said: “Three or four weeks ago we were three points behind Arsenal and well aware we needed to get points on the board quickly.

“We’ve managed to do that. Arsenal have slipped up and opened the door for us and we’re playing well at the moment.

“It was an important week for us with three wins over Derby, Bolton, and Liverpool.

“We’ve done what we set out to achieve. But we’ve got a tough run-in, just like everyone else, so we’re not getting carried away.

“Having said that, we’re happy with the position we’re in — that’s for sure.

“We’re well aware that when we play our best, we will beat anyone.

“A lot was made of Sunday with two big games going on. Well, we did our bit.”
