The Czech Republic defender Tomas Ujfalusi has rejected the chance to move to Liverpool in a £500,000 January deal, one of his agents has confirmed. Ujfalusi, currently with Fiorentina, is out of contract in the summer and a host of clubs are interested in acquiring him on a free transfer, including Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Zenit St Petersburg. The interest prompted Liverpool to attempt to secure him early, but with Fiorentina now offering him a new three-year deal, Ujfalusi has been convinced to delay any decision until the summer.
'I have to respect the decision he has made,' said agent Pavel Paska. 'Nevertheless, it has surprised me a lot. Liverpool rarely give this type of offer twice to one player.'
