It is believed that the Reds will renew their interest in former Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diarra when the transfer window reopens, yet despite a difficult season at the Bernabeu, the Mali international intends to remain with the club.
“I want to show what I am capable of,†said Diarra. “I arrived at a club with difficulties. In three years nothing had been won, and that is difficult. I want to stay because I am adapting very well to Spanish life.
“I want to finish my contract here. My desire is to show the true Diarra, the one of Lyon. A month ago I wasn’t having my best time and now I am a little better because the team is united. When the team is happy, I am better.”
This news will also come as a blow to Italian giants Juventus, who wanted Diarra to lead their charge back into Serie A next season following their demotion to Serie B last term.
