Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is ready to offer £12 million for Middlesbrough striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.

The Observer says Eriksson will have £30m to spend before the start of the new season, and will offer Middlesbrough £12m for striker Yakubu, according to a source close to the club.

Yakubu, also a target for Harry Redknapp at former club Portsmouth, is understood to be keen on the move to City, with talks expected in the next few days.

Hmm.. you chose not to mention the fact that both Yakubu and Southgate have both come out and said Yakubu is happy at Boro, and Southgate’s insistence that Yakubu is going nowhere unless a replacement is brought in first?

Slightly selective reporting there.

I would not have a problem with letting him go, not one bit. more concerned about sorting the right hand side out with the money we get back from Yak!
