Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson admits he would love Blues owner Thaksin Shinawatra to buy Ronaldinho this summer.
The Brazil forward, currently out injured, could leave Barcelona in the summer and his brother and representative Roberto De Assis was entertained at the City of Manchester stadium on Saturday by club directors ahead of the 2-0 defeat by Chelsea.
"It was the first time I had heard such a thing, so I really hope it is true," said Eriksson. "We would be able to find a place in our team for him, I can guarantee that.
"I will phone the owners. It was a surprise, but if they want to package Ronaldinho for me I would accept him and be very happy."
De Assis is well-known for speaking on behalf of his brother and has been a central figure in most of the former World Player of the Year's contract negotiations throughout his career.
But De Assis is not just an agent - he also owns Porto Allegre, a second division football club, and a rich hunting ground for young Brazilian talent.
City currently occupy ninth place in the Premier League and are struggling to maintain their bid to qualify directly for next season's UEFA Cup.
As a failsafe, the club have applied to enter the Intertoto Cup - quite a step down from the Champions League for Ronaldinho, should he make a move to Eastlands.
