While most people considered Adebayor to be set at Arsenal, Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has admitted he is interested in Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor but refused to confirm whether a bid had been submitted.
The Gunners' Togolese striker has attracted interest from the Catalan giants and AC Milan this summer, although the Italians' interest appears to have cooled following the arrival of Ronaldinho as well as Arsenal's hefty £35million asking price.
But Barcelona are still keen, despite reports this week suggesting Adebayor had priced himself out of any potential deal after allegedly demanding £120,000 a week wages.
Speaking after their 6-0 thrashing of Hibernian, Guardiola refused to confirm whether an offer had been made for the 24-year-old.
But he did admit that he was an admirer of the player, as well as Chelsea's Didier Drogba.
"Barcelona are always interested in good players," Guardiola told the Guardian when asked about the pair.
"Those players are interesting but so are many others in England, Italy and Germany."
Asked whether he was preparing to make bids, Guardiola replied: "You would be better to speak to the sporting director [Txiki Begiristain] about the exact situation."
