Gunners boss Arsene Wenger insists the English teams will play a large role in determining the destination of the Champions League trophy this year.

Arsenal will play host to Porto in their second Champions League group game tomorrow night, having scraped a point at Dynamo Kiev two weeks ago.

Although qualification is some way off yet, Wenger knows that when the draw is made for the later stages of the competition, it is the English sides that the rest of Europe's elite will want to avoid.

One of the 'big four' of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have all featured in the final of the Champions League for the past four years and Wenger sees no reason why that trend will be bucked this season.

"The four Premier League clubs will have a big say in who wins the Champions League. No question,” said Wenger.

"Every club in Europe now knows that if they are drawn against an English team then it will be very hard."
