Arsenal are reported to be lining up a bid for Sporting star Miguel Veloso, according to reports, writes Craig Rodhouse.

It is believed that Wenger sees 22-year-old Veloso as the perfect solution to his defensive midfielder problem, after seeing Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto Silva both leave the Emirates this season.

Veloso, has also been reportedly drawing attention from Arsenal's Premier League rivals Manchester United and Tottenham and Veloso's agent Paulo Barbosa has revealed that his client could be prepared to leave the Portuguese side, should the right offer come in.

"He will not leave just for the sake of leaving, only for a club with a different dimension and is good for him and Sporting," Barbosa said.

"Miguel will not leave for an average club that cannot match his expectations or surpass what Miguel could do at Sporting."

The player like any professional would be open to offers. That is just a sensible attitude."

Veloso, has started 50 times, scoring one goal for Sporting and has also featured 7 times for the Portugal national side.
