I Thought The Arshavin To Spurs Story Was Done? Maybe Not Yet…

Posted on 24. Aug, 2008 by Milox in Premiership

One day the story is dead, the next day it’s back on. Tottenham’s pursuit of Zenit St Petersburg forward Andrei Arshavin has been given a major boost after the Russians’ boss Dick Advocaat admitted he expected the player to move to White Hart Lane.

Zenit have reportedly lowered their asking price for the 27-year-old to below the £20million mark, although recent reports suggested Arshavin was to be offered a new contract by the Russian side.

Advocaat was quoted as saying: “Last year we sold Martin Skrtel to Liverpool for £10m, and now probably Arshavin will go to Spurs.”

Spurs are looking for more firepower after losing Robbie Keane to Liverpool, while Dimitar Berbatov’s proposed move to Manchester United could yet take place.

Levy, now you sold the family silver to feather your nest. You have purchased some scrap metal, you have bought a load of youngsters that you have no intensions of playing.

You should be looking to change the coaching staff. Since the Carling cup there has been no passion.

You let Richard Dunn drop through your fingers, sold Keane, rubbed Berbatov’s nose in the dirt. These guys all they wanted was better players around them. Bentley, Capel and top coaches etc..

I sometimes wonder what planet your on.

PETER….. Whilst I agree with you about letting good players slip through the net, DUNNE,KOMPANY and a few others I can think of, can you please explain to me how we have rubbed BERBS nose in the dirt. I am not privy to such information and would like to know what you think we have done to him?

Shut up John, by saying King is not good enough just shows your real lack of knowledge.

Yeah thats it Ramos is to blame for everything including invading iraq, the economy taking a dive and the russians invading georgia. Oh no sorry that’ll be Levy or is it the tea lady? I’m not sure any more. I guess we should sack the entire playing staff as well cos lets face it according to most forums every single player has at some point been blamed for our recent losses, especially the new buys cos well lets face it they’ve been at the club for ooo must be all of 5 mins now and still haven’t adjusted to the prem or life in a different country (funny how Bentley seems to have adapted so quickly and is playing well!). I’m a lifelong spurs fan and have seen alot worse than this in the last 32 years. yeah i’m not happy we lost and yes we do need to bring in players but I’m not going to have a heart attack just yet because we lost 2 games. I’ll wait till next week when we go to chelsea! There are to many Spurs fans who think success is made overnight (we’re not chelski!!! thank god) and just aren’t realistic enough to give the team time. I’m looking forward to the new signings this week, I think there’ll be a few surprises. We’ll be alright we always are! I personally am not expecting a great deal from us this season but I think we have a good chance to finish top 6. Maybe i’m just deluded! So lets get behind them not barrack them and leave the stadium at half time cos we’re not winning 7 - 0! COYS

White hart lane yid I salute you finally a Spurs SUPPORTER!
[and rob (hope you're surname isn't Keane lol)]

if most of our fans can’t see that it will take time to bed into the new season then they must be pretty thick.

we all want success but walking out at half time in our first home match of the season thats ridiculous [and they call themselves Spurs “supporters”.

White Hart Yid, 100% behind you!
I mean, look at last season. It’s common knowledge that the start of the season for us was… well, awful… But, we walked away with some silverware at the end of it, which is more than can be said for Chelski.
Pre-season, Spurs looked very strong, but Premier League football games aren’t friendly matches. Just give the boys a chance to settle, find form and work out how to play with their teammates, and we’ll creep up the table again.
In a Barclaycard survey done, Spurs supporters were the 3rd most optimistic supporters across all of the football leagues, with Swansea and Man United 1st and 2nd respectively. Maybe a little bit of optimism now wouldn’t go amiss, and don’t write off the lads just yet.
