Hammers Star Vows To Beat The Boo-Boys

West Ham United forward Luis Boa Morte has repeated his vow to beat the Upton Park boo-boys after being jeered during Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United.

The Portugal international, who was repeatedly targeted at the tail-end of last season, was again subjected to abuse after missing a gilt-edged chance in second half stoppage-time.

But, having decided to stick it out at the Boleyn Ground following speculation that disgruntled supporters may force him out over the summer, Boa Morte has vowed to ignore them and impress new manager Gianfranco Zola.

“I’m just worrying now to play for the manager and work hard for the club,” he said.

“As long as the manager gives me confidence, whatever comes like the boos or whatever, I keep them apart from me and I just get confidence from the manager.

“As long as the manager gives me confidence I care about nothing else.”

And Boa Morte is hoping to be given a chance to impress in tonight’s Carling Cup third round tie with Championship side Watford.

“I’m a West Ham player so I just look forward to getting involved and trying to make it as difficult and hard for the manager,” added the 31-year-old, who has scored just one goal in 53 league and cup appearances since his £5million move from cross-London rivals Fulham in January 2007.
