Gunners Wenger Says He Will Make More Signings

Arsene Wenger has admitted he will bring in ‘one or two’ new signings before the season kicks off next month.
The Frenchman has witnessed something of an exodus at the Emirates this summer, with Mathieu Flamini, Gilberto and Alexander Hleb all leaving for pastures new, leaving the Gunners looking somewhat depleted in the central midfield area.
Although the arrival of 17-year-old Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff and Samir Nasri from Marseilles will cushion the triple blow, it looks likely that Wenger will look for an experienced head to partner Cesc Fabregas in the centre of the Arsenal midfield.
“We can get in one player with experience yes,” the Frenchman said after watching his side defeat Barnet 2-1. “It will be two maximum but one certainly.
“I cannot give you any names. But we are still thinking of bringing one player in.”
Wenger was not fazed by his recent losses, and pointed to the fact that many of his key players were absent through injury during much of last season.
“We don’t live in an ideal world,” said Wenger. “Flamini was free to leave and, as for Gilberto, he is 32 and had the opportunity to have a three-year contract. While Hleb was in a strong position.
“We have lost good players with experience but we have bought good players and we have more ones coming through.
“We can still bring in players with experience of course. And don’t forget that since January, Robin van Persie missed nearly six months and Rosicky nearly four months. They will all be coming back.”
