Gunners Tracking Another Midfield Ace

Arsenal are thought to be interested in Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia, although they will face stiff competition from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

The Blues are thought to have sent a scout to watch the 22-year-old in action against Lyon but French sources suggest it is the Gunners who showing the strongest interest.

Mbia, a defensive midfielder, would slot in comfortably alongside Cesc Fabregas in the centre of Arsenal’s midfield, following the departures of Gilberto and Mathieu Flamini over the summer.

He has already made 11 appearances for his country, scoring three goals, while he has been at Rennes for the past four years.
