Bolton, Newcastle in race for ex-Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse

Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle have been linked with the ex-Liverpool man, who is yet to hear from Marseille about whether they see him as part of their plans for next season.

Arsenal closing in on £11M deal for Lyon ace Ben Arfa

Arsenal are ready to close a deal for Olympique Lyon winger Hatem Ben Arfa.

The youngster admitted only last week: “It is true that we have spoken about Arsenal, but we will see how it is going to happen.”

The Independent says Arsenal know that Lyons are a notoriously difficult club to negotiate with and that Ben Arfa’s public declaration may be a bargaining tool for his own ends, but an offer of more than £11m is likely to succeed. It would also be a statement of intent from the club who have been angered by suggestions that they are strapped for cash in the transfer market.

Spurs set to make sensational £15M bid for Chelsea’s Anelka

Tottenham are planning a bid for Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka.

The Daily Express says Spurs are aware Anelka is available from Chelsea after failing to fit into coach Avram Grant’s system since his January arrival from Bolton.

Tottenham are willing to match the £15 million Chelsea paid for Anelka to take him across London.

Man Utd interested in Valencia fullback Miguel

Valencia fullback Miguel is attracting interest from Manchester United.

Miguel is under contract until 2012 and his buy-out clause is believed to be set at £12 million.

The Portugal international fell out with management earlier this season and admits: “I am ambitious and if a good proposition is made, anything is possible.

“The decision depends on Valencia.

“If the club accept my sale, no problems, and if the new (Valencia) coach relies on me, I stay.”

Adebayor flattered by Barcelona, AC Milan interest

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor admits he’s flattered by interest from Barcelona.

“For a young Togolese, a 24-year-old, to see that Barcelona or Milan follows you is very flattering,” confessed Adebayor. “It pleases me. For the moment, I am happy at Arsenal.

“One will see what will occur thereafter.”

Chelsea star Drogba: My dream is to play for AC Milan

Didier Drogba has stunned Chelsea by revealing: My dream is to play for AC Milan.

The striker’s confession comes just a week before the Blues play Manchester United in their first Champions League final.

But Moscow looks like being Drogba’s last game for Chelsea after he admitted meeting Milan legend Paolo Maldini and officials at the start of last term before daring them to buy him.

Drogba said: “All footballers dream of signing for AC Milan. I explained to Paolo Maldini that Milan is a club I would love to join.”

In his explosive autobiography, Drogba reveals he flew to Milan in a private jet.

Upon arrival, he bumped into Milan’s vice-president Adriano Galliani, who allegedly asked him ‘When would you like to play for Milan?’

Drogba replied: “Whenever you want, it’s all up to you — get the money ready and go see Chelsea.”

The next day, Galliani called Blues to make an offer.

Chelsea close in on Barca wonderkid Dos Santos

Chelsea are thought to be close to landing Barcelona youngster Giovani dos Santos
The 18-year-old has been touted as an incredible prospect for a few years now, being likened to Ronaldinho, singled out for praise by Sir Alex Ferguson at the tender age of 14 and eventually making his breakthrough into the first team this season.

However, it has been a poor season for the Blaugrana, and he has not been able to settle in as he would have liked, either. Filling in for the phenomenal Lionel Messi - who missed crucial parts of the season due to injury - proved a bridge too far for the Mexican, who was somewhat underwhelming in comparison to fellow wonderkid, Bojan Krkic.

It has been rumoured that the forward is willing to leave the club unless he can be offered an improved contract, with Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly interested in the player several months ago.

It is Chelsea who are now said to still be in the hunt for his services, with the club having held talks with the player’s parents and agent.

With a contract worth £40,000 per week - an astonishing amount for a player of that age - the deal is said to be all but done, with a fee needing to be agreed between the two clubs.

Arsenal misfit Lehmann set for Stuttgart move

Arsenal’s out of favour goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has admitted he could play for Stuttgart but has not ruled out retiring from the game altogether.

The Bundesliga club have reportedly made an approach for the 38-year-old stopper, who can leave the Gunners on a free transfer this summer.

Stuttgart’s number one, Raphael Schafer, has failed to live up to expectations since joining from Nurnberg last season and has been dropped for the final game of the campaign after making one mistake too many.

Lehmann, who lost his place to Manuel Almunia after a shaky start to the season, has long been expected to return to his home country to end his career.

He said: ‘Yes, if I choose to keep playing, then I can imagine playing for VfB (Stuttgart). VfB is an established name in the Bundesliga.’

However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Lehmann is delaying making his decision until after this summer’s Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

‘He has indicated to me that he will make a decision after the European Championships and he will certainly be influenced by the way it goes,’ said Wenger.

‘He does not know if he will continue to play.’

Keegan warns Gunners off Martins

Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has warned Arsenal off making a move for Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins.
Martins has been continually linked with a possible move to Arsenal with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger thought to be a big admirer of the player.

Reports have suggested Arsenal are lining up a bid for the former Inter ace in the summer as they look to strengthen their squad for a renewed title challenge next season.

However, Keegan says he has not received any bid for Martins and he would not welcome one for the jet-heeled forward.

When asked if he had received any offers, Keegan told the Evening Chronicle: “I haven’t, no, but I want to keep all my players and add to them if I can.

“Anyone that goes will be a bit of a blow, especially if something like that happens late on in the summer.

“However, Arsenal have definitely not approached me.”
