Castillo : United rejected me

Manchester City’s new signing Nery Castillo could easily have been playing for Manchester United, the Mexican has revealed.

The striker joined Manchester City on a year-long loan after using his own money to leave Shakhtar Donetsk. However, it is not the 23-year-old’s first visit to Manchester.

“I had a trial at United but it didn’t come to anything,” he said yesterday. “I’ve still got photos of me with Sir Alex and all of the players. Maybe now I can get my revenge on them with City.”
