Arsenal Skipper Admits To Mistake

Posted on 29. Aug, 2008 by Milox in Premiership

Arsenal captain William Gallas has admitted he was at fault for allowing Fulham defender Brede Hangeland to escape his attentions and score the winning goal last week.

The Frenchman has come under fire from some quarters, with questions raised over his captaincy credentials after several errors and high-profile incidents, most notably his one-man sit-down protest during the Gunners’ game at Birmingham City in February.

But Gallas has helped get the fans back on his side by scoring the second goal - and his second of the season - against FC Twente in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier at the Emirates on Wednesday.

And the 30-year-old centre half has now held his hands up over the goal last weekend, and has promised to redeem himself.

“I did not defend very well for the Fulham goal, I am not afraid to admit that,” said the Arsenal skipper.

“It was my player and I did not do well enough - I made a mistake and I know I have to be close to my player next time.

“It is sometimes good to play every three days because you get the chance to put the last game behind you.”

He’s man enuff to admit he made a mistake so let it go Stu as battering our players especially our capt. won’t improve our performance! He played well and got 2 goals in 2 matches against Twente, and I don’t see anyone singing his praises!!!
