Arsenal Defender Out On Loan Following Signing

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to send young defender Johan Djourou out on loan following the signing of Mikael Silvestre, according to reports.

Wenger snapped up 32-year-old Silvestre from Premier League rivals to add some experience to his young squad.

And, according to the News of the World, that could see Djourou farmed out to French club Rennes, who were impressed with the player’s performance in last week’s win over West Brom and are keen to snap up the Ivory Coast-born ace.

The 21-year-old Swiss international spent much of last season on loan at Birmingham and was planning to make this season his breakthrough year at the Emirates.

However, with William Gallas, Kolo Toure and now Silvestre leading the chase for two centre back spots, it looks as though Djourou will have to settle for gaining first team experience elsewhere.

That would be a silly thing to do.

Wenger is stupid to send want to send him on loan. He has been one of the most improved players and to now send him out on loan is a poor call. Send Senderous on loan.

Silverstre will always be injured, so that would leave us with Toure, Gallas & Senderous. that is a weak back line for me
