Arsenal Boss Refusing To Splash Up Cash

Arsene Wenger has rejected director Danny Fiszman’s invitation to splash up to £30million on a player in favour of pursuing his policy of keeping faith with a young side.
Fiszman refuted claims Arsenal’s transfer budget is affected by their Emirates stadium and insisted the cash was there for Wenger to spend as he pleased.
But the Frenchman feels the best way for the club to move forward is to develop a side from scratch, with an ‘identity’ and a ‘love’ for the club.
“When we decided to build the stadium I wanted to anticipate the possibility of financial restrictions, so I concentrated on youth,” Wenger says.
“I also felt the best way to create an identity with the way we play football, to get players integrated into our culture, with our beliefs, our values, was to get them as young as possible and to develop them together.
“I felt it would be an interesting experiment to see players grow together with these qualities, and with a love for the club.”
