Arsenal Boss Makes TWO Important Signings On Deadline Day

Posted on 02. Sep, 2008 by Milox in Premiership

After missing out on top transfer targets Xabi Alonso and Gokhan Inler last night, at least Arsene Wenger signed up promising youngsters Mark Randall and Keiran Gibbs on new contracts.

The pair arrived at the Emirates in 2006 and after impressing in their first year with the Gunners they went on to sign professional terms in 2007. Both Randall and Gibbs spent time on loan with Championship sides last campaign and their continued development has persuaded Wenger to tie the duo down to longer deals.

Randall has made six appearances for the Arsenal first team after making his professional debut for the Gunners in 2006 against West Brom. And after an impressive loan spell with Burnley last season, the-18-year-old went on to play the north Londoners last game of the previous campaign against Sunderland and also made six appearances for the club in pre-season.

Gibbs, 18, made his first appearances for Arsene Wenger’s men in last year’s Carling Cup against Sheffield United and Blackburn and after a successful spell with Norwich he went on to play for the Gunners against Juventus in the Emirates cup in pre-season.

We are the Gunners for life, yes its true but the lingering question in most of Ugandans who have offered their lives to full support of the North London Club are in complete dilemma with the way the club has stayed quiet and yet other closest rivals have had their top signings of the season and are ready on to tussle for the big trophies.

Arsenal will keep in the lower ladders while other top signed players traverse with ease for their clubs.

Wenger We are proud of you but please sign us materials that will take us to the next level. Please Help us because evry time we loose its us who feel it to an extent of missing out a meal due to defeat.
Till next time i wish you the best may God touch on our club.Uganda (Africa).

hi, proffesor.it’s high time i have been expecting u to make a good signing, in replacement of the duo talented midfielders that has just left emirate stadium on a window transfer saga.but u failed to make a good replacement. And this time around as every football fans is awere that premiership and champion league this time is going to be highly competitive.perhaps, i am a tipical arsenal fan and this has been seriously disturbing me on how we gona cope with this big task ahead us. because been without cup this time around is going to be painfull.
finally, i will like to breafly comment on our striking force. which of course, is not as sharp as it supposes to be.well, wishing u best of luck for this seasons. up gunner’s

I guess 30 million in own coffers is way much better than 30 million in other ppl’s coffers. Hey why not sell CF and keep the money in the bank and strive to be the most profitable club in PL?

FFS, this is not about trying to be rich!!!!!!!! It’s about finding good players to replace them. Once you find them, BUY THEM!!!! Berbatov, Keane, Robinho, etc… They were bought because they were good additions to the club. Why can’t Arsenal just buy Alonso or Inler when 30 Million is enough to buy either one of them….FFS

i dont think money is the issue….i read on the BBC text on transfer deadline night that apparently we failed in a 20 million plus deal for berbatov. Assuming this is true, why o why could we not shell out the extra 2 million for Alonso? We offerd 14 , they wanted 16 . Even if the Berba story is not true…..we have repeatedly been told….that the money is available….effectively we lost Alonso for 2 million. In the grand scheme of things , thats pin money

Gibbs is interesting.
Randall doesn’t release the ball - too much of a bigshot.
Maybe AW thinks he can change him. Myself, I’m not sure he has the balance of ability and temperament to succeed as an Arsenal 1st teamer. There are just too many other prospects. He’s not as good as Bentley was when he was sold.
But a longer term contract will help get more for him from e.g. Blackburn when we let him go

why does it matter that its before deadline day, you can offer your own players new contracts whenever. just another over-exaggerated headline to make people look at it. theyre not important signings and theyre not really signings at all considering they already play at arsenal. idiot writers should be obliterated
