The Netherlands have overtaken Spain to become the No.1 football team in the world as per the new FIFA World rankings for August 2011. This is the first time that the Netherlands have held the No.1 ranking in world football, and they become the seventh nation to hold first spot after Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany and Italy ( apart from Spain).

Germany and England are third and fourth respectively while the South American duo of Uruguay and Brazil take fifth and sixth spots. Italy, Portugal, Argentina and Croatia make up spots 6-10.
