Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop signs for Real Madrid

Real Madrid have officially announced the signing of FC Bayern’s Turkish midfielder Hamit Altintop on a four year contract. Altintop, whose contract with Bayern will expire at the end of this season, will join Real on a free and follow in the footsteps of Turkish compatriot Nuri Sahin, who sealed a 10 million euro move from Bundesliga champions Dortmund to Real a few weeks ago.

Altintop joined Bayern from Schalke 04 in 2007 but has never really been able to live upto expectations at the Allianz Arena and had revealed a week ago that he would not be staying in Germany beyond this summer.

Real failed to win the league and the Champions League under Jose Mourinho this season but did manage to lift the Copa Del Rey.
