Arsenal manager Wenger expects Andrei Arshavin to stay

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he has no plans to sell Andrei Arshavin this summer and expects the Russian playmaker to stay at the Emirates. Arshavin has struggled to reproduce his best form in the last few months, leading to speculation that Wenger would offload him as he attempts to pierce together a squad that is capable of breaking the Gunners’ longstanding title drought.

Zenit St.Petersburg, the club from whom Wenger brought Arshavin to London, has been touted as the most likely destination for Arshavin. Zenit have already admitted that they have no problems in reacquiring Arshavin should the two clubs come upon an agreement.

In an interview to Arsenal TV, Wenger had this to say about the diminutive Russian.

“Yes, I expect him to be at Arsenal next season.”
